Matt Garlick is a man who loves what he does! Bridging the gap between GreyEdge’s incredible experience in Thermal Energy Networks and town, campus, and utility customers, Matt pushes forward the concept of TENs as the most efficient and lowest carbon alternative to standard heating and cooling systems.
Matt holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Utah and is a Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP, ASHRAE), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM, AEE) and a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP, BCxA). Matt is an advocate for high performance design and regularly speaks to professional organizations across the nation on the benefits and potential for TENs. In an industry filled with engineers, Matt’s combination of a broad understanding and technical expertise allows him to reduce complicated ideas into simpler forms. This helps bridge the worlds of owners, architects, engineers and contractors and encourages efficient systems that deliver in the real world.
Matt’s career has led to working on building typologies that have the most to gain from energy efficiency. He has developed energy models and provided design teams with actionable recommendations on over 12,000,000sf of projects from China to Canada and California to New York. He has led teams on dozens of commissioning and retrocommissioning projects over the past ten years. This broad mastery of conceptual and practical concepts elevates his work at the GreyEdge Group developing real world applications for Ambient Temperature Loops.
