Ian grew up working on his family’s cherry orchard, where he developed a strong work ethic and a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving that continues to influence his engineering work.
Ian earned his degree in Energy Engineering (BS) from Weber State University and is a certified Engineer in Training (EIT), having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. As part of his senior project, he developed a solar gain calculator used to estimate solar heat gain on buildings, reflecting his interest in applied energy analysis.
His work emphasizes analytical rigor, technical accuracy, and continuous improvement, with a focus on applying engineering principles to real-world challenges. Outside of work, he enjoys hands-on technical hobbies, including 3D printing, vacuum casting, and microprocessor and microcontroller-based projects.
